Ferrite ring magnets were invented in the early to mid 1950’s. Often referred to as ceramic magnets, Ferrites quickly became the preferred choice in magnets due to their low cost and their strong resistance to demagnetisation. Ferrite magnets have excellent corrosion resistance and they are very hard and brittle. This makes them difficult to machine or drill. They have a very good temperature tolerance with relative magnetic stability at temperatures of up to 250 Degrees Celsius. Although they provide less energy than other magnets available today, Ferrite magnets are frequently selected for their stability, tolerance against demagnetisation, outstanding corrosion resistance and their low price per magnetic output.
